Dreamroads Editions Launches with Realist Landscape Painter Robert Bissell Publishing Company To Focus on Bringing High Quality, Limited Edition Fine Art to Broader Audiences

OAKLAND - January 1, 2010 - Today, art publishing company Dreamroads Editions launched to bring Robert Bissell's realist landscape fine art prints to a broader audience of dealers, collectors and designers - affordably - and in a way that best reflects the original paintings. The new venture brings Bissell's meditative landscape collection to the gallery, home or design project without giving an inch on quality standards. The first 13 giclée prints of Bissell's original oil paintings of land and waterscapes are available now to galleries and certified design professionals.

There were a number of factors leading to the creation of the new compay. Firstly, the art market is changing. For galleries, many clients have cut back on collecting in a challenged economy - with no real no guarantee it will ever return to pre-downturn levels. At the same time, there is an entire demographic of new potential clients that galleries have not yet reached - those who don't necessarily have an original art budget for their homes and businesses, but who would like something more exclusive and are not satisfied with the mass produced "wall décor" available through retail chains. And contract designers, finding they need to do more with less, can be frustrated by both the price and quality deltas between fine art and mass production offerings.

Dreamroads Editions prints are not mass-produced offshore - they are limited edition fine art, gallery represented, quality prints. All are printed and stretched in the United States to the highest standards by master printers and framers, using only the finest quality archival materials. Giclée prints maintain the detail and finish of the original oil on canvas paintings. And every print is inspected, signed and numbered personally by the artist.

The landscape work itself invites the contemplation of hidden, uncharted internal territory. Free of forced aesthetic and emotional excess, the landscapes encourage consideration of the world as it is, not an idealized or romantic vision. Without sentimental narrative, or specific focus, viewers are free to wander into the scene and consider it according to their own sensibility. Bissell's meditative works encourage reflection on nature, the roads we travel, and the choices we make.

"Our way forward is seldom clear - and the paths our lives take can lead to places we never imagined. Confronted by abrupt turns, unexpected obstacles, and a myriad of choices along the way," said Bissell. "The landscape of the mind - where we contemplate our journey - is allusive and enigmatic. Indirect, its essence is hidden by complexity, focus and detail. But we know that what lies beyond these obscurations is a place where we can rest our busy thoughts."

To suit a number of design project or residential situations each print is available in multiple and custom sizes. Finished formats may be rolled canvas, stretched and gallery wrapped, or printed on archival papers ready for framing. Rolled canvas is available with either a 2" white border, or a mirror border for gallery wrap. Every print is inspected, signed and numbered personally by the artist.
